Greencross Vets Mutual Partnerships

Mutual Partnership Options

The Mutual Partnership models give you the freedom to run your own practice, continually develop your clinical skills and take the lead on veterinary decisions while benefiting from the support provided by experienced business professionals and a well-known and established brand.

There are two Mutual Partnership options:

  • Buy out your Boss
  • New to Industry

The buy our your boss option provides you with the financial support to purchase the clinic that you are currently employed in. Practice owners are often looking for a succession plan and want to leave their practice with their trusted vet associate/s. However, the financial undertaking of purchasing the clinic may not be feasible.

Greencross supports this model through a mutual partnership. The current practice owner and vet associate/s work with Greencross to review timelines and financial assistance.

Becoming a mutual partner via the ‘Buy out Your Boss’ or ‘New to Industry’ option will enable you to be part of a large network of veterinary professionals that include multiple benefits:

  • Partner peer network– You are never alone and will be given a MPM (Mutual Partner Mentor) who is available to give you professional support, guidance and advice. In addition to your MPM, you will be included in a knowledge share with over 300 veterinary professionals located throughout Australia. Greencross also provides veterinary resources, guides and documents on our company intranet which you can access at any time.
  • Work-life balance– A healthy work-life balance is important to everyone. Starting your own business typically means that work overtakes life! However, the Greencross model removes many of the difficult aspects of being a business owner and gives Mutual Partners the confidence that their HR, finance, IT and marketing is being looked after. This support leaves you to enjoy evenings and weekends with family, friends and of course, your pets!
  • Financial stability– We all have bills to pay and finding the money when starting your own business can be very scary. This is why Greencross pay salaries to Mutual Partners from day one. This salary is on top of the practice profits, plus your share of dividends are paid to you every 90 days.

New To Industry (NTI) properties are carefully selected in the highest potential locations. The Greencross Partnership team will work closely with you to help you choose your ideal location, not just based on town or city, but on statistical geotechnical data ensuring that you are in the best position to gain clients and continually grow your practice.

All NTI clinics are either purpose built or converted to meet the following criteria as well as meeting your specific requirements:

Standalone clinic or collocated with Petbarn to leverage the foot traffic

  • Fitted out to the highest standards with modern lasting finishes
  • In prominent locations with parking facilities
  • 200-500 square metres
  • Located in populated suburban areas

Opening your own practice with Greencross Vets is an extremely safe investment and costs as little as $25,000. A typical new practice start-up costs $500,000 and is jointly funded with Greencross Ltd through a bank loan and lease agreement that is arranged on behalf of the Partnership due to the preferential terms with banks we know and trust.

To date, the Mutual Partnership models have delivered outstanding financial rewards. Current sales growth in Mutual Partnerships throughout Greencross is over 20% per annum.

Patient welfare and well-being is always the first priority. Greencross have negotiated terms with veterinary health companies and manufacturers, equipment suppliers and utilities providers that are designed to provide you with the best rates and supplier terms possible. These negotiated terms are not meant to restrict your clinical decisions. As a veterinary professional, you are free to choose if a drug or treatment supplier is suitable for a particular case or your practice.

One of the main benefits and reasons why veterinary professionals decide to enter a Mutual Partnership with Greencross is because of the business support services that are provided. As noted earlier, the Greencross Support Office handles the day-to-day tasks associated with running a business to allow you
to concentrate on what you were trained for - caring for animals.

Making the decision to enter a Mutual Partnership via the ‘Buy out Your Boss’ or ‘New to Industry’ option is an important and monumental decision for your future. Greencross have developed an extremely flexible journey that is designed to work with your timescale, needs and requirements to ensure that you are informed and comfortable with the partnership.
